In early February I decided that my next adventure would be to explore the United Sates from coast to coast by bicycle. I have always wanted to use one of my expeditions as an opportunity to support a good cause but plans have in most cases been too last minute. Now with more time I wanted to use this opportunity to make a difference.
Why did I choose to support the Alzheimer's Association? My late great grandmother suffered from the debilitating effects of dementia. I grew up watching her condition deteriorate. Much of the time I would go to visit her with my grandfather and she did not recognize me. Although it takes a great toll on the victim. The toll taken on the family is unimaginable. As the disease progresses the family must assist in even the most basic of human functions. Having experienced this first hand I whole heartedly believe that this is a great organization to support.
Just as Manny and I will endure all forms of challenges on this expedition, finding a cure for Alzheimer's will take the hard work and the dedication of medical researchers from around the world. I am confident that through a collective effort we will find a cure. Today I ask you to help make a difference. Please dig deep into your heart and make a donation to find a cure.
